T4RC : nop
RCMR : The DLE20 weighs about the same as a Saito 125 -- so its nice and light -- not like those HK 26cc engines
RCMR : Its also got a rear reed-valve induction so its got good power. Those side-port gasers are crap
RCMR : Well Im off to hit the hay. Nite nite!
SargeNZ : evening jacko

Less than a KG my bathroom scales say! Overpowered slippery brick!

My foamy one was 500g, and that seemed REALLY heavy, I think 20-22oz wing loading.... but it had the power for a hand launch ok.

Jacko how is your slipso coming along?

I flew mine today, shoehorned a 1700 3s into her and ripped up the sky. Had an *interesting* landing - came in hot as (as usual!) and touched down nicely, so I thought. Somehow the plane got side on to the short grass and caught the wing... well she did two complete cartwheels!!! Here's me watching, saying to myself "OK, time for another short kit here..."

Inspection revealed ZERO damage. Dang, that laminating film is TOUGH stuff.

The 1700 3s was being tested to I can move from a 4.5x4.1 to a 4 x 4.75. Need.... more... speed...

Mine is sitting on the window sill watching me build Ritewings! Too many toys, not enough time. It'll fly before summer hits in full swing!

Sarge needs to pull his one out and finish it too! Enough these indoor foamy toys!

OK so I flew my Slipso with a G3 3s 2200 today, after moving away from a single aileron servo, instead putting one in each wing. Only way to get that big sucker of a battery in there!

Launch was fine with a 4.1x4.1, seemed a bit slow though, must've been too much voltage from the bigger pack for the wee KDA inrunner, it just got slower and slower until I lost power! Not a nice feeling in a speed 400 pylon plane!

Managed to do an emergency down-wind landing . Motor was sizzling, In fact I burned my fingers when I touched it through the cooling vent.

Well this means I definitely will get the ARC 28-37-2 now...

Haha, too much voltage under load for the motor to handle The 28-37-2 is gonna make you grin, you should get some pretty good flight times on a 2200 pack too. I usually land mine after 4 minutes and the pack is stil @ 70% charge, with an 1800 3S.

Gonna try a 4.5x4.5 tgs prop, maybe its the rite one for the job.

So I flew the Slipso with the new ARC 28-37-2 this morning, this time with a 4.5x4.1.

What was strange, it seemed faster than the 4.1x4.1. Maybe the extra thrust is helping here, I doubt it though, 'cause the airframe is so slippery anyway.

Whatever, it honked around, and I even did some full speed pylon style turns! Everything held together :). Grin factor++ !

Got some nice doplar passes on the dynamic 400 today, The majority were between 210-228kmh flying a relatively level figure 8 circuit with constant throttle, however I got one fast pass out of a shallow dive at 236kmh!! Thats near 147 mph!

Funny how as you get used to speed it starts to feel slow!

Elevator now feels MUCH better, much more connected feeling in flight with 2/56 gold-n-rod and sullivan clevises connected to a 17gram MG thin wing servo.

Time to find a 4S pack that'll fit. Faster! Faster! Faster!

Wow! 210-228, with 236!!

I doubt my slipso is going that fast, but I will have to doppler it and find out eh?

Impressive Jacko!

Try that 4.5x4.5 prop Its a thrust monster, and seems to still have the pitchspeed to rock and roll, it didnt feel massively fast today (getting used to it), apart from the 236 pass which was seriously motoring.

One interesting thing Im noticing with this prop is that coming out of a full power turn, ie the exit off a pylon style turn the RPM sounds like it rises, I didnt notice it with the APC props. Maybe it is unloading more as it accelerates onto the straight and level. Aint no room for the datalogger, so it'll remain a guess

Just watch out for the torque roll on launch, it bites hard!
