I am still having trouble with CG and motor of my X-Treme. When I use the CG of 73 mm (according to manual) I have to trim completely up to make her flying well. I think 90 mm CG might be good.

But the motor I used (Turnigy Inrunner) is too weak for the weight and gets hot of the 50 A very fast (and VERY hot). I am still looking for a good and affordable motor. A weight of about 260g will be needed to keep the CG.

Any recommendations?

These are amazingly still on sale at 50% RRP. Its a serious bargain stump hauler motor.

http://aircraft-world.com/shopexd.asp?id=5053

Mine is still going strong, ~140A on a 3300 3S Hyperion Vx G3 with an aeronaut 12x6.5 +2.5 degree on a 48mm centre, This is the best prop combo Ive found so far with the motor. Scorpion 110A 15V esc seems happy enough getting treated like this, with the throttle on a switch.

I agree with ya on the CG. You can go much further aft than the recommended CG and still shows no bad manners.

Dont give up on the Xtreme, its a wicked glider once you get it sorted.

None of my Lipos would survive 140 A or even 120 A.

But thank you for the link. But I cannot get the technical data from there. I would prefer to order a comparable motor at my preferred shop (hobbyking.com).

I will not give up the Xtreme. I love this plane although it is not so easy to make it fly properly (not really ARF).

What CG do you use?

And more important: is the angle of 72° for the elevator correct? It seems for me that the angle has to be smaller.

You will struggle to find a decent motor from HK for it, they just dont make motors that can take hotliner abuse and not end in a melted blob. The sale price of the S3025-6 is near HK levels anyway. Aircraft-world.com are 1 milllion times better to deal with than HK

The only HK option I can think of, Ive never tried it, is one of the big inrunners they do, with a qaulity gearbox on the front. I dunno how much abuse they would take before popping though

No specs for the S3025-6 were released, other than the kV, it was released between the Z series and the new ZS series so is a bit oddball. What specs were you after?

What lipos are you running?, You can exceed the C rating by a lot in a hotliner setup as your own using bursts of power for a few seconds.

My CG is around 90mm.

Angle of the flying stab is from the manual is spot on. Double check you are measuring it right.

Time to make some room in the mancave for bigger and badder toys, so ill probably regret it, but my extreme is up for grabs if anyone is interested. 1 week and itll be on tardme for more money. $650, less than half what it cost me, so its a deal

Comes complete, without Rx. Plug your rx in and fly.

All the details are in this thread, but the jist of it -

S3025-6 hyperion motor
3S 3300 G3 35C pack (still holds shweet voltage at around ~140A)
Aeronaut spinner and 12x6.5+2.5degree aeronaut blades
110A 15V Scorpion V2 esc (and IR remote)
4 HD 2212MG digitals in wing
MKS 9660 on stab
MG Turdy 14gr on rudder
2S 1100 A123 pack for redundant Rx power.

Its in good nick, normal wear and tear, but nothing busted.

If your interested in a hotliner, this is pretty close to the perfect first one, Its a pussy cat too fly, nearly lands itself, and has enough boogie to scare most people
