But no council has said you can't fly at any of their parks that I know of -
So south aucklanders only have 3 parks, and waitakere, central and north shore have hundreds of parks to fly at - I think we are the winners

Yep - thats pretty much it - Fly safe and you can fly in any park, except south Auckland which only has 3 parks. What did they do to only be limited to 3 parks

Not too sure about all parks in Auckland are legal for model flying but it's wise to just fly safely, not attracting too much attention just in case joy killer hapen to be there and make an isuue out of it. As far as I know there is a blanket bann on model flying activity on all parks in Auckland, one reason we were quite worry about the super council.

Hi,
As far as Manukau City goes we have only 3 parks to fly in because only 3 are CAA legal. The approaches to Mangere International Airport has controlled air space down to ground level over much of Manukau City and the MCC can not allow flying in breach of CCA regs even if they are a bit over the top. I have a .jpg slice of the approaches to Auckland International showing the controlled space boundaries, mail me personally if you would like one. Lloyd Elsmore, Macleans, and Millhouse are the only parks outside the controlled space. We should respect the MCC rules here, we have a good relationship with them now and they are keen to promote RC activities. This was not always so, search this site for "You cant fly that here" if you want the full story on what happened. The IC site at Highbrooke has an existing CAA danger area for aviators due to the emissions from the power station and this is why flying is ok there, there are similar areas at Ambury Farm, and on the Waiuku Rd.

It is all about safe unrestricted RC flying where people can go and do their thing without a lot of rules and regulations so prominent in our nanny state. If we maintain an unblemished record in these 3 parks I do not see why the super city community board will not allow us to continue to share these parks with all the other interested users.

Lets all follow the few simple rules on the signs, behave responsibly, and have a heap of fun. These flying parks are privilege not a right.

Good flying.

Hey Rctink be very very careful flying on the North Shore! They passed a resolution last year that there is to be NO flying of RC Planes or Helicopters in any of their parks.

There was a case brought forward to the council by a resident who was complaining about the noise of the RC Planes being flown in his local park and the "antics" of the pilots. The council advertised a meeting for the pilots and the residents to sort out their issues with the council mediating but NO PILOTS turned up. The residents got their wish as the council decided it was easier to ban RC flying in their parks since no "flyers" turned up to present a case FOR Parkflying. Unfortunately I didnt hear about this until it was too late (being resident in Howick) but hear are some interesting notes:

1. The offending Flyers were Gas powered not electric.
2. The council will not stop you from flying unless there is a complaint.
3. If there is a complaint the council will react.
4. If you dont listen to the council after a complaint they have the "right" to bring in the Police.
5. If you fly according to the Parkflyers guidelines as advertised on this website (thanks to all those that contributed) and with extra consideration to the local residents you will enjoy the use of NSCC Parks.

I have tested the waters so to speak up there and have approached NSCC regarding flying in the parks. The official answer is no but they will not stop you if there is NO complaints.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info Kiwiflyer, I only fly electrics so its not too loud. Its good to hear that they don't police it without complaints first. (worried about the pc brigade)

Ive read the park flyers guide and try to follow that now. Guess you just have to be responsible and safe when you flying round parks.

With all this flying I do now I wish I lived in the country or close to somebodys farm. So you dont have to worry about the public!!

thanks for the clarification again
