Finishing off my arrow and looking at the COG and my RX battery that came with my spektrum dx7 kit a while and its a big sucker. Instead of using that can you use a 7.4v lipo instead?

This really isnt a weight question so please dont go into that, i just want to know about using a 7.4v as a RX battery instead of the 5 cell (6v) NiMH that came with my kit

cheers

Your Rx will handle it, but your servos will not like it... 8.4v is too high for most servos. Get a BEC like this one, problem solved

Yep I think so, almost all servos are designed for 5 or 6v.

There are some new digital ones that can handle 2s voltages, but not many.

Try it - I did, and my servos went crazy!

Also it depends on how many servos you are running, i.e. lots of large servos will draw quite a few amps... even 8g servos can draw .5A each.

Yup you will burn those JR servos out, some of the new Hitec and Hyperion digitals are rated at 8.5V, but you will burn everything else out.

I run a 2S A123 1100 pack in the xtreme, with a 5A SBEC hanging off it too power the 6 Digitals at 6V, works shweet as.

ahh k cool. However in the mean time i decieded to just cut some foam away and put the 6v one in there and hit the slope out the back of the farm. Boy this thing is fun. Only down side i took my controller up with not to much power left and only got a 20 minute slope. Its a very forgiving bird in the air.
