Looking at the next sailplane to make up. Anyone seen or own a falcon? They are extremely small with only a 24inch wingspan and would be pretty crazy on a slope, maybe even too small? They look like they wouldnt float at all so some good strong wind would be handy.

I was keen on one to, but it looks like it would need a howling gale to stay aloft !

I saw a dude with one up on the slope up here a while ago. Didn't get to see it fly but he said it worked great and had a stupidly fast roll rate. It was actually very light and I'd say would need a good bit of extra weight in it to go forward in a bit of wind.

I reckon go for it and build it strong to add some weight (use double layer fiber tape if you're using that, or heaps of 3M90 if your doing it the riteway). And maybe add a small ballast tube.

Hmm i think that might be me then. Just a crazy nut of a plane on the slope sounds like too much fun to go past!

Ordered one yesterday, I will build it up this weekend. Trying to find servos now, probably thinking like 9g or around that weight.

I would rather keep the build light and have to add balast over having a slopie that was too heavy, any ideas?

Saw guys flying it on Mt Welli. Flew in surprisingly light wind very well. It is small so you will probably fly it close to you. The roll rate makes you smile also other acros looking quite funny. It just needs to kept going but then it is fun. Nice hand launch grip on the fuse makes launching easy. Sure you will have fun with.

9 gram servos might be a bit fragile for the slope unless they are MG ones. I wouldn't worry about trying to build it too light - best to add weight by adding strength rather than building it light and fragile then adding ballast to it.

Ive been buying a shed load of these http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/st ... ar_servo_16g/2.7kg/.16sec

I have something like 20 of em all up, and they ROCK! Slightly bigger than an HXT900, but they have some awesome torque and im sure they are faster than the .16 sec rating. Also have *very* low slop even for full MG, and perfect centering. Im notoriously tough on servos, I have a very large box of dead ones, but these things are very good.

Only down side is they are very "talkative", and im sure they are current hogs but I havent tested them.
