I remember one time he came down to my club at the time (Blackfeet) on a hot sunny day. We had a large peat field adjacent and Dave caught some massive thermals in his Radian and was heard calling out he was struggling not to loose it straight up. I looked over and the sweat was pouring off him but he had the biggest grin on his face and was really enjoying himself. Good times

I feel so lucky that i got to fly with Dave on ANZAC this year, it was just him and i down at archies, he said "hell Les i haven't flown my warbirds for over a year, and look they are all covered in cobwebs" and they were that, he taxied out the Albatross and pointed her into the wind,, gunned the engine and as if he had only flown it the day before it lifted off and climbed out into the western sky, i laughed and said you haven't lost a thing mate! he flew that Albatross in a awesome scale like manner and then touched down perfectly...he was a great flyer!
Yes Dale , good times indeed

Another one taken too young. I will always remember his laugh and keen attitude to just go fly and have fun no matter what.
